“THE PEOPLE…”

“TANGATA WHENUA…”

The time before and the events immediately after the Taniwha Wars are the focus of these pages – in particular, those from the Far North (of the North Island).

Over a period of 150 years, the wars created many heroes and pushed the unlikeliest of people into legend. Most characters are sadly lost to memory, even the few Taniwha whom fought alongside the Māori for the gods, and the fallen Aho whose taonga (treasures) are slowly being reclaimed by the Taniwha Hunters – a modern day secret organisation still charged with the eradication of the Taniwha.

The Wars also provided villains – characters whose ultimate goal was absolute power and greed – who sparked and fanned the flames of dissent.
