Before the creation of mankind, the gods walked the earth. In their wakening, it was a time of growth, peace, and contemplation. Once they locked the secrets of the world and mapped the revolution of the heavens, the gods became restless. They created their first children and sent them out into the world to marvel at their achievements, but even their children – having inherited a sliver of divinity – wanted for more.

They begged the gods to create mankind to populate the world, so they may nurture these simple creatures. For the first time in their existence, the gods became divided, but eventually the request was granted, and humankind sprung forth.

The gods demanded that their first children go amongst the people, and teach them their ways, and so the positions of the Aho and the Watchers were established. The Watchers travelled the world and taught people language to worship the gods, knowledge to cultivate the land and wisdom of the seasons, whilst the Aho remained dedicated to the Laws of Nature. For many years the world knew peace, and the gods were satisfied, but it was not to last.

Nobody really knows when the corruption started, but as the Watchers became entwined in human affairs, they began to assume the mantle of gods, and as the gods began to lose the power granted by divine worship, they attempted to eradicate this world by plunging it into chaos through fire and water. But as the Watchers assumed greater power, they taught mankind the secrets of survival, and while they proliferated, the Watchers revealed much darker secrets.

The gods were angered, and they cursed the Watchers, driving their wayward servants further into eternal madness, yet the Watchers continued to resist, forging a dark and terrible alliance with the people, whilst obsessing with total control and corruption.

The gods, knowing well the insurmountable problems they allowed to unfold, granted power to the Aho to destroy the Watchers whilst they departed the world to return to the stars, and offered silent meditation to hold the fabric of the universe in balance.
